At Winter's Gate

Winter visited for a short while during the week before Thanksgiving Day. Depending on where you lived, icy weather delayed your travels. Geoff and I were to go to Milford on Nov. 23rd but didn't make it until the 25th. We visited with my Dad. [Stan Sherrill]
Lynne flew to Washington D.C. to visit Marie during turkey week. Marie has been an intern for the Discovery Channel and the Learning Channel since mid September and will return to Colorado in early December. I'm sure her Jeff is waiting for Marie to get home too!
Steve made it up to Iowa the weekend before Halloween. We won't see him again until Christmas. Don't worry, I call him EVERY day.
Lynne finishes up the semester at ISU next month. She should be back home in mid-December.
Geoff is the leader of the team that is making a robot camera to use in the Bahamas in January with the biology team from St. Olaf College. Check out this video about Geoff: http://www.stolaf.edu/news/index.cfm?fuseaction=NewsDetails&id=4992 . He leaves 02-JAN-2011 for a month-long stay in the Bahamas.
We want to thank our military veterans who have in the past and continue to watch over us and our country. Especially Dewain S., Ronnie S., Dale H., Randy R., and Chris R.

10-OCTOBER-2010

We are moving right into fall.
Steve has plans to come north on OCT 23rd. It will be nice to see him.
Marie seems to be doing fine in Washington, D.C. She sent me a postcard and a magnet from Gettysburg, PA. She said she didn't see any ghosts, tho!
Lynne came home this weekend. I take her back tomorrow morning. She is making plans to visit Marie for Thanksgiving.
We haven't heard much from Geoff lately. I assume all is well. I don't know his plans for turkey-day yet.
I went over to Spencer to visit my sister in the hospital. On the way back my car started acting funny. I went to get it checked on Saturday and all is OK. My plans are to go to Kansas for Thanksgiving.

Enjoy the pictures I took when Lynne and I were at St. Olaf College recently.

XOXO

It's Autumn

I just looked and it's been over a month since I last updated this blog. Me bad.
Steve really cleaned up at the house in Rockwell! Now he want to move the stuff from the garage and basement to the shed. He moved my books and rabbit cages to Garner!
I survived my first 56hr work week last week and will do it again this week! Then it will be back to 42 hours for a few weeks.
Marie is in Washington, D.C. doing an internship for the Discovery Channel. She will be there until December 4th. I'm sure Jeff and the dogs miss her!
Geoff is back at St. Olaf in Northfield, MN. He says he has some tough classes this semester.
Lynne is doing well at ISU. Her art work received some recognition from a visiting artist. YAHOO! She came home for a weekend in September.
Well, that's our life for now!

Back to School!

School seems to bee the buzz word around here!

Steve came up yesterday from KS. Then he took Lynne to Iowa State University to get settled into her dorm. He commented that there wasn't as much stuff this year as last year. Lynne reminded him that some of her stuff is in storage at ISU. She's in a different dorm and has a roommate from Red Oak, IA. I'll share more info later.

Geoff is finishing up his summer class [Spanish 4] and will be coming back home for awhile until St. Olaf starts in September. This fall he will be working as a teacher assistant to the genetics professor. He also works as a "Safe Drive" contact on campus where students can call for a ride home during the night. He tells us that he plans to study an art/science course in the Bahamas in January. Our "little world traveler."

Marie will be heading to Washington, D.C. at the end of September. She was awarded an internship with the Discovery Channel. She will be working with promotion and PR. The internship ends in early December. Marie and Jeff celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary on August 18th.

Steve will be here for a week to work on the house in Rockwell. He's hoping to get to Le Mars next weekend.

Theresa has been busy working at the school libraries. Last week was teacher in service and now school starts on Monday. She has also been training at Waldorf College to be their evening reference librarian. That job starts August 31st.

I will try to keep you more up-to-date with frequent posts!
Until next week....

Love ya,
Theresa

July is almost over!

Only 7 days left in July! This month has gone by so quickly!

My dad and I went to Keokuk, IA for a few days in early July. It was nice to visit relatives: Aunt Mary Margaret B.; Uncle Dewain and Aunt Ruth S.; and cousins Shirley F, Bonnie M., Sandy C., Bobbie C., Billy C. and Blake C.!
Lynne and I and the 2 dogs drove out to Colorado to visit Marie and Jeff and their 2 dogs. While there we ate at Lucille's Cajun Cafe, sushi for the first time, Whole Foods for breakfast, and Goodberry for frozen yogurt sundaes. Jeff, Marie and Lynne went bike riding, went to Barnes & Noble, and walked around old town. Marie and I got pedis. A very nice visit, all in all.
I've been working with the team at WH to implement the new automation system for the 3 schools. I've attended several webinars and will go thru training with the library aides during the first week of August via another webinar. Our plans are to be up and running by the start of school.

Marie starts a new job next Monday.

Geoff returned from Alaska. I guess it wasn't for him. He's taking summer school at St. Olaf in Northfield right now.

Steve has been visiting transmitters in western Kansas.

You're up-to-date with the Reiters!

JUNE IS HERE!

Last weekend was bittersweet for me. Marie and Steve arrived last Saturday. We, plus Geoff and Lynne, enjoyed a nice supper out at Whiskey Creek in MC. The bad part was that I was sick. I had a bad cold or something, but I felt rotten. We had even planned to head to Le Mars on Sunday, but didn't because I didn't feel well. Steve drove back on Monday and Marie flew back on Tuesday. Now they both say I may have made them sick!

Geoff leaves for Alaska to work at Lake Marie Lodge near Anchorage. He'll be a captain on a boat for fishermen/tourists. He has to carry a rifle and a pistol to protect clients from wild animals, especially bears.

Lynne seems to be working FT at the DQ. I don't see her very much. Her friend Mac returned from his art trip to Germany last weekend and we enjoyed pizza with him last Monday. Guten Tag!

One of my schools, Blemmond-Klemme, is not issuing contracts until mid-July at the earliest. They are waiting until their 3 new administrators are hired so they can plan together. CRAP!!!

Steve has been out driving around western KS checking on the station's transmitters.

Marie told us that Jeff Allen was in a bicycle accident recently. They were riding on a trail and a young fellow came around a curve too fast on his motor bike and ran into Jeff. Jeff's bike was ruined. Jeff fell off but is OK. His bike is now in for repairs. He rides his bike to work so I guess now he'll walk or use his skateboard!

I know that Memorial Day is over, but please reflect again on those brave men and women who gave their all for the USA.

Back in the USA!

GEOFF is back home in the USA. Yesterday, Terri & I drove to Minneapolis to pick him up at the airport. We ere able to meet Eric's parents [Reed & Susan Huber] and his brother, Dane. Eric is Geoff's college roommate. When we pulled up to the curb there was this tall, bearded guy with a Steve Irwin hat plopped over a brown baseball cap that said "Tasmania" on the front and a khaki shirt on, plus shorts and flip flops. He was carrying a big backpack and other travel bags. Terri yells, "There's your boy, Theresa!" When the car stopped I just said, "Give your Mamma a kiss and a hug, big boy!" Terri, Geoff, and I ate at a Mexican cafe in Northfield, MN on the way back to Mason City.

LYNNE has been back home for about a week now. She's working at Dairy Queen in Clear Lake.

Steve and Marie will be here this weekend. We plan to get together this weekend. This should be fun!

WELCOME

I suppose with FB you won't be reading my blog too much, but I hope you will! I will try to keep you up-to-date with the Reiter family, my family, news.

Theresa: The school year is winding down to the last few weeks. The last day at B-K is 3-JUN and the other end on the day before. I have several extended days to complete also. I'm still waiting to find out if my hours will be cut or not at B-K. This will be decisive in whether I stay in Iowa or move to Kansas. I have another little dog to join with Cricket. Her name is Nattie and she a little jack russell.

Steve: Steve has been driving to western Kansas to work on the tv transmitters. He was up to Iowa on the May 1st weekend and will come up again over Memorial Day.

Marie & Jeff: They have another dog as well. Lucy is her name and she's similar to Jack. They were in Iowa over Easter vacation and purchased some furniture that was owned by my parents. I bet the bed and dresser look nice in their home in Colorado. The dresser was owned by my Aunt Alverna, my dad's sister.

Geoff: His days in Australia are numbered. Right now he is on a cattle ranch in Biloela. He has several places yet to visit and then from May 19-22, he has final exams. On May 23rd he'll be in flight to the USA.

Lynne: She just finished her 1st year at ISU. Now it's job looking time! She'll be looking for something around Garner.

Well, that's all for now.
Stop by again!
